چکیده

Purpose Endothelial dysfunction is the earliest abnormality in the development of coronary atherosclerosis. Rubidium-82 (82 Rb) is a generator-produced positron emission tomography (PET) myocardial perfusion tracer that is becoming more widely used. We aimed to develop a method for quantitative assessment of coronary endothelial function using the myocardial blood flow (MBF) response during a cold pressor test (CPT) in smokers, measured using 82 Rb PET and ii) compare the results with those measured using 15 O-water PET. Methods MBF was assessed at rest and during CPT with 82 Rb and 15 O-water in 9 controls and 10 smokers. A one-compartment model with tracer extraction correction was used to estimate MBF with both tracers. CPT response was calculated as the ratio of MBF during CPT to MBF at rest.

Noninvasive Quantification of Regional Myocardial Perfusion With Rubidium-82 and Positron Emission Tomography

Positron emission tomography (PET) centers without cyclotrons use generator-produced rubidium-82 (82Rb) for assessment of myocardial perfusion. The aim of the present study was to determine whether myocardial blood flow could be assessed quantitatively with 82Rb and PET. Because the myocardial extraction fraction of 82Rb varies inversely and nonlinearly with flow and cannot be measured convenie...

Review: comparison of PET rubidium-82 with conventional SPECT myocardial perfusion imaging

Nuclear cardiology has for many years been focused on gamma camera technology. With ever improving cameras and software applications, this modality has developed into an important assessment tool for ischaemic heart disease. However, the development of new perfusion tracers has been scarce. While cardiac positron emission tomography (PET) so far largely has been limited to centres with on-site ...

Relationship between regional myocardial oxygenation and perfusion in patients with coronary artery disease: insights from cardiovascular magnetic resonance and positron emission tomography.

BACKGROUND It is recognized that the interplay between myocardial ischemia, perfusion, and oxygenation in the setting of coronary artery disease (CAD) is complex and that myocardial oxygenation and perfusion may become dissociated. Blood oxygen level-dependent (BOLD) cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) has the potential to noninvasively measure myocardial oxygenation, whereas positron emiss...

Incremental diagnostic value of regional myocardial blood flow quantification over relative perfusion imaging with generator-produced rubidium-82 PET.

BACKGROUND Myocardial blood flow (MBF) can be measured with positron emission tomography (PET) and its quantification should provide diagnostic information beyond that obtained through standard visual analysis. However, this possibility has not been fully studied with PET and generator-produced rubidium-82 (⁸²Rb). We evaluated regional MBF in segments with and without ischemia using ⁸²Rb PET in...
